Suburb Profile - Queens Park

Distance to CBD: 11km

The suburb’s original name was Woodlupine, the name is said to honour Queen Alexandra, wife of King Edward VII. The name was changed in 1911 after a murder took place in the suburb and residents feared it would affect the suburbs development.

Located only 11km from the CBD, the area is within close proximity to the Westfield Carousel Shopping Centre, Cannington Leisureplex, bus and train public transport – multiple bus routes and the local Queens Park station, primary and secondary schools and easy access to the Perth International Airport.

Its local schools are Queens Park P.S., Saint Norbert College, Cannington S.H.S. and Maniana Community Kindergarten. There are also multiple schools in the surrounding areas which are nearby.

The suburb has experienced a phenomenal change in recent years due to the large Quattro development in the area which cleared large parcels of government land to be divided and sold to the public. After this government initiative the area accelerated as it attracted families and first home buyers to the area. The area is now considered a suburb of choice that is a desirable place to live and bring up a family.
